As a continuation to our previous post on Essential Oils for Skincare, here are more essential oils that are good for skincare. Many skin problems can be treated or curbed with essential oils and they’re used for several centuries with good results.
Rosemary Essential Oil
Calming oil that helps reduce dermatitis and psoriasis, it also stimulates blood circulation.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint is quite popular and helps stimulate blood flow when applied. It is also used to treat inflammation, eczema and dermatitis.
Mandarin Essential Oil
Do you know you can use this oil during pregnancy and for children? This oil enhances cell regeneration and helps prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Have oily and acne-prone skin or blackheads? You can apply this oil to your skin directly for treating acne and blackheads.
Myrrh Essential Oil
It is good for aging or infected skin and helps soothe inflamed, infected, dry or chapped skin.
Rosewood Essential Oil
Thought Rosewood is just for furniture? Think again! Rosewood has many properties that are beneficial to skin like healing acne, acne scars, moisturizing and breathing life to dull skin, reducing wrinkles, etc. Though costly, it is quite in demand and used widely.
Citrus Essential Oils
Lime, Orange, Lemon, Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, Bergamot and Tangerine are all called Citrus oils. They are known for their astringent and antibacterial properties. They help with skin toning, stimulate microcirculation, balance sebum production, promote tissue regeneration, reduce and lighten scars, etc.
Sweet Basil Essential Oil
With a scent similar to anise, it helps treat skin problems, makes skin tone even and brings life to dull skin.
Cedarwood Essential Oil
Cedarwood oil is quite popular and used for treating several skin problems like rashes, eczema and reduces blemishes. It also regulates oil production levels.
Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential is quite popular and added in many herbal products for their skin benefits. It helps treat acne, skin blemishes and reduces or lightens scars. Coriander Essential Oil
Coriander essential oil helps regulate sebum production and absorbs excess oil. This can come in handy for those with oily skin.
Thyme Essential Oil
It has antimicrobial properties, hence used for healing, soothing and cleansing your skin. It is also slightly astringent and can be used as a toner.
Cypress Essential Oil
Cypress essential oil, though quite pricey, is an astringent and great to regulate skin oil levels and restore skin tone. It can help those with oily skin and helps reduce skin blemishes when applied.
Fennel Essential Oil
Fennel essential oil regains moisture in dull and dry or dehydrated skin, tones oily skin and helps aging skin better. It also reduced under eye bags and is a good antiseptic.
Tangerine Essential Oil
Tangerine oil smells great and helps reduce stretch marks and acne. It balances skin oil levels, promotes skin health, nourishes the skin and promotes microcirculation.
Sage Essential Oil
Sage essential oil gives life to dull skin and tightens your skin. It is an astringent and antiseptic, so used to treat wounds and infections.
Petitgrain Essential Oil
One of the three oils extracted from Orange tree, it helps balance your skin and evens out skin tone. Much like lemon or lime oil with skin lightening and scar reduction properties, it is fairly milder than lemon-based oils.
Palmarosa Essential Oil
Palmarosa essential oil helps regulate skin sebum levels and especially good for aging skin as it helps with cell regeneration. It hydrates, nourishes and moisturizes the skin, reduces acne and treats dermatitis. It is useful in treating skin infections, too.
Myrtle Essential Oil
Myrtle essential oil has bactericidal and antiseptic properties. It is also a mild astringent and helps curb acne and regulate skin oils production for those with oily or acne-prone skin. It is a great skin revitalizer.
Vetiver Essential Oil
Vetiver essential oil is good to regulate oily skin, curb acne breakouts, heals wounds and cuts, calms inflamed or irritated skin and helps with rejuvenation in mature or aging skin.
Violet Essential Oil
Quite rare and costly, it helps heal inflammation. It also helps curb acne breakouts, reduce pore size and eliminate blackheads. It also helps heal eczema and rashes. However, it should be diluted before application.
Birch Essential Oil
White birch essential oil is used for those with dry skin, to treat eczema and other fungal infections. It also reduces cellulite when applied to skin after dilution.
Most of these oils have other health benefits, which we will see in another post. Try incorporating essential oils for healthy, blemish-free and youthful skin. Remember: You should not apply essential oils to your skin directly, so consider adding a drop or two to Revitol products before applying, for best results.
